Today seemed to fly by although it proved to be rather rigorous and difficult in places. Although the weather was fairly kind, sore knees, aching wrist’s and back pain were problems faced by most of us today as almost everyone took to cleaning back the large trench which shows the rampart. This task did prove harder than previous tasks but it was far more rewarding as we actually were able to unveil history and view the sight with a new set of eyes. The greatest find of the day was some limestone slabs in the barrow which could have been used to cover up a number of things, maybe even a cremation…how exciting?! Overall, the dig today has made us all more and more enthusiastic about the site and very curious to uncover the secrets of Boltby Scar.
